So In Love with Their First Time

I’m talking about The First Time (2012) movie, here :p It IS a sweeeeeet rom-com movies for its genre.

The movie is really talking about how their first time in a really good way, the chemistry was outstanding for me, played well. Which makes me fall for this High School’s movie, was the witty dialogue and smart-genuine conversation between Dave and Aubrey.

Everything about them, is so real and natural, make me reminiscence my own love story and my wanna be kind of how I want meet my own man.

When he’s talking-she listened, and otherwise it makes me smile, and when his heart beats fast – my face blush. Oh it’s been so long I haven’t watched this kind of romantic movie: simple, real, and not so complicated.

I can watch it many times and yet not make me bore. And both actors Dylan O’brien and Britt Robertson, it’s so nice to meet both of you! what a nice introduction ^^ Love both of you there.

The Prestige: Are you watching closely?

Nope. But I’m so glad to finish the movie! The ending paid off my time.

What can I say about The Prestige. It was my cup of tea but the presentation not really my favorite, but the taste is definitely one of my favorite. Confuse? me too.. hehehe. Basically the premise and the idea is one of my favorite kind a movie, a movie that keep you guessing, and twist all your thought in the end, that was my cup of tea kind of movie.

Basically it’s about rivalry between two magicians. The rivalry started by an incident which made it into revenge. How this two tried to beat one another with the best and innovative trick to amaze the audience.

I love the whole idea and the twist and all the discovery in magician/ illusion trick, I was amazed. But to tell the truth the package is a little bit boring for me. If I didn’t have the patient, I might be ending up not appreciate this movie at all, coz the whole idea, the main story and all the twist was in the end with slow pace in the middle about the rivalry and how they ruin each other show. It was too slooooooooow for me.

But the last 20 minutes were my favorite, starting to get what the idea behind the movie and the last 10 minutes was brilliant to ruin all the thoughts that I had made during my watching. It never occur to me how much crazy dedication did Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) has. And poor Robert Angrier (Hugh Jackman), he has such sad and apparently silly obsession toward his rival Alfred. Both actors acted well.

But I couldn’t understand John Cutter (Michael Caine) character here. Did he betray Angrier? Why I feel like he helps Borden in the end, when all this time he was so helping to Angrier? And Tesla (David Bowie), was he only meant to create the magic box, and then gone? Olivia (Scarlett Johansson) first quite interesting how she has her own characteristic and never one dictate her, but shamelessly she kinda disappears after worked under Borden.

The movie itself works forward-backward-forward-backward, hahhahha.. but that was good keep us thinking did this scene happen in the future or in the past or current situation. Love show that makes me think. smart.

The TWIST = LOVE IT SO MUCH! make all the hours watching this worth!

And once again I love all the twist! wish they make it more interesting pace in building the story to the twist.

When Reading Is Not Always Shows Its Good [Case: When A Man Loves]

image
I just finished watching 4 episodes of When A Man Loves, and… it was totally a mistake! d*mn, now I have to wait wed and thurs again to find out what happen next to them, when I suppose to take a k-drama break!!!

When I read about this drama couple months ago, I can’t help but distracted. When they mentioned to have Song Seung Heon as the lead actor, I’m both nervous and excited. Nervous that it will become another Dr. Jin’s project but excited to see all his sweet-manly face onscreen again! I’m not talking about that BONUS, but yeah, that is the advantage of having him in a drama.. hahahha *pervert*

Then, I read the premise and I cringed. Is not my favorite plot. It said that is about a man (a gangster) who is already married to his ex-boss girl then later in love with a poor girl (younger one), and it’s believed to be another melo. Intriguing right? but that is not my cup of tea. I never like to watch a cheating drama.

There was a movie called The Naked Kitchen, I watched it without knowing the story, coz I knew they had Joo Ji-hoon and Shin Min Ah (really love many of her projects, that’s why I checked that movie). And since is about cheating (in my pov) so I never finished the movie. So here goes the same with the premise told us about When A Man Loves, and since I’m on a break and still curious how Song Seung Heon ssi’s doing with his new project, I decided to follow the recap since there is one in Dramabeans. For information the recapper is the one who recapped Dr. Jin, so it was an entertaining yet witty recap, but sadly she only did the first episode recap.

So first, I found it so so and seems not good. Until I found that another blogger did recap this drama, Couch Kimchi. Both DB and CK recapping the same show, but it was totally different style, different aura, and even different emotion came out after reading it. How come? coz people have their own perspective and it’s their rights to be different. And since I know the one who recap at CK, she’s one of windblowers in Soompi, she made me to watch this drama. And…

I Like it, Not regreting It, And loves to see Song Seung Heon blushes in front a girl and diligently study how to get close with woman! It was totally smart turns from the writer!

Oh ya, did I mention that it has the same director who did Arang and the Magistrate? I should have known it, that it couldn’t be a total disaster since I love the director’s work in Arang. And he proved it. 4 episodes and I’m looking forward to it.

So far, it’s quite different from what the premise told in the beginning.

The story begins 7 years ago when Tae Sang (as a gangster boss, Song Seung Heon) collects debt from a bookshop owners who is Mi Do’s father (Shin Se Kyung). Seeing himself in Mi Do’s who struggling to defense her father. Tae Sang, decided to cut the interest and gives Mi Do “scholarship” money to her education. The Big Boss mad knowing it, and the fact that his girlfriend, Baek Sung Joo, also has a crush on Tae Sang, make him even angrier. He decided to kill Tae Sang but it didn’t work out. Then he decided to kidnap Mi Do since he knew that Tae Sang likes the girl. When helping Mi Do escape, Tae Sang got stab in his back.

Present time, we knew the Big Boss died, since Chang Hee, Tae Sang’s loyal friend kill him unintentionally and went to jail. Tae Sang become a success CEO of a fund company. One day Tae Sang meets again with Mi Do in a restaurant, and save her from a rich-spoiled girl humiliation revenges to her. From that moment Tae Sang keeps helping her, start to move his father who is sick in hospital to a private room, father’s medical bills, and finally gives Mi Do a job at his company when she insists that she will repay his kindness.

Okay, when I write it, I know that the show seems boring. But trust me, it’s not! what I love about this show it’s that It really true to its title. When A Man Loves is definitely about a 38 years man, Tae Sang, to fall in love with this 26 years old girl. And he even old, he is never had relationship with woman before, and never fall in love before. How he expresses his love to her is so innocently cute and totally get me hooked.

And the girl is not ordinary girl also, she’s in dilemma, in one hand this is the same guy who made his father almost suicide and almost ruin her family, but this is also the same guy who helps her family, gave her intuition money 7 years ago, and now he become richer and not a gangster anymore but a success CEO, further than that, he still the same guy who keeps helping her and her family. One day he just went straight forward to her ask her as his wife but she rejects it since if she say yes that will because of his money.

So now he has to win her heart and her family to show her that he really loves her. And it won’t be a smooth path for Tae Sang. Since it is a drama we have obstacles here and there. First, Sung Joo, the one who still love Tae Sang even she knows that he doesn’t love her. I dunno why the premise said Tae Sang is married with Sung Joo, when up till ep 4, there are no clues to lead to that path, since we know that Mi Do now officially joining war to be Tae Sang’s girlfriend. Highlighted in their meeting at Tae Sang’s office when Mi Do tell Sung Joo not longer to buy Tae Sang’s tie and after shaves since she is the one who will do it. So the part Tae Sang’s married is still big question mark to me, and hopefully is it’s true please make it believable and understandable, and please not make it into cheap turns how to make your love one jealous thing.

Second obstacle, we have Jae Hee, Chang Hee’s younger brother who also falling in love with Mi Do. And he is such a cutie pie especially when he finds out about the quote that he asked Mi Do to write in the chalkboard when she wants to meet her and he did saw it. But he didn’t know that it was Tae Sang who wrote it and not Mi Do. Poor him if he finds it out.

Third obstacle is this blonde guy who happens to be Big Boss’s friend and Sung Joo’s crazy admirer. And we still have this mystery with Tae Sang’s mother and brother.

So to be honest, I still can’t figure out how the story would be, but I do really enjoying Tae Sang and Mi Do relationship here. And enough for the rant! hehehe..

Bottom line, It’s different between just reading and watching! Reading only wasn’t enough to make a judgement. Watching it first then decide it whether to keep watching or just reading the recap for the rest, is a wiser choice.

LOVE (2012) – What A Sweet Movie!

Okay, I just finished digging more information about Zhao Wei’s filmography when I found this movie. It is also her latest film before the Painted Skin: Resurrection. As per my curiosity and my boredom attack, I managed to watch this movie without any expectation. And that’s what kicked me, this movie is actually good as a romantic movie. (Yup, any movie that at least captivated me to watch from the beginning till the end, I consider that one good!)

So this movie is a three love stories mixed in one, with a little tiny string attached between the characters to relate the story, surely. So this is the Taiwan’s Love Actually version, which for me much warmer.

image

The movie begins with a girl, Li Yijia (Ivy Chen), discovered that she was pregnant. She showed the test pack to Kai (Eddie Peng), which of course made him not happy at all. Then Ni (Amber Kuo), Li Yijia’s best friend swoop in and kissed Kai (woops). And she turned up to be Kai’s girl friend. Having a mood swift, Kai excused himself, and ride on his bike. Losing his concentration, Kai almost got hit by car, driven by Mark (Mark Chao), a handsome business man.

Then the camera lead us to where the Mark’s car heading. On his way, his friend called for invitation to hook up with Japanese’s models in a villa. And unhappily, Mark had to pass this chance since he will fly to Beijing this weekend. Then, we arrived at this hotel in Taipei. He got in to elevator and followed by a bunch of noisy ladies. One of the elevator’s passenger was Xiao-Ye Jin (Zhao Wei), she was here in Taipei for her duty trip? (it looks like it).

Mark got off the elevator and knocked in a room, which opened up by this sexy lady, Zoe Fang (Shu Qi). She greeted him with a kiss and a hug asking for a made up session. He seemed to looking forward to this moment, but he kept restraining himself. As she kept sending him smooches, he lead her near to window, and closed the curtain.

Then the camera bring us to room upstairs, where Xiao-Ye Jia, holding a name card, and picked a phone like she would make a call, but she didn’t. She left the room and bumped into Kuan (Ethan Juan), a part time worker servant. And suddenly we followed him into an elevator to a hotel kitchen. we heard his friend talking about Zoe the actress, whose rumored just checked in this afternoon. They were talking about how small Zoe’s feet (duuhhhh???). Kuan made a delivery of champagne to a room, which actually is Zoe’s room. Mark opened the door and told Kuan to leave it there, and Kuan managed to spot Zoe in the room.

After Kuan’s left, Mark asked about the champagne, and she looked unhappy, she said after all this long flirt, finally they have this chance. But Mark seemed hesitate to this situation. He said he is serious to her, but she cut it asking him what those flirt meant. He had no choice but to flirt her again. She stopped him by saying stop flirting if you do not dare to touch. (Ouuuuchhh!)

He kept denying, and she kept throwing facts. Ultimately she asked him did he love her, which froze him, couldn’t answer her. Shockingly she took it light, and said her finale goodbye, “The inability to love is more pathetic than impotence.” 1-0 for her. She left and called someone to pick her. Then we realized she wasn’t happy at all with her discovery.

She waited in the lobby, and caught Kuan took her picture without permission, she snatched Kuan’s camera, and saw her picture and then another girl. She asked why then he answered his friend said her feet is small, and then we realized that Kuan is a stammerer (adorable one though). He wanted his camera back and she gave it back to him but deliberately let it slip and fall down. As he took his pity camera she got in to a car.

And there was sit a middle aged man, Mr. Lu (Doze Niu), commenting on her behavior in throwing paparazzi’s camera. She is not in the mood in answering then she lean to him and asking him to marry her (and what’s wrong with her, she just in one man embraced and now asking this old man to marry her?). He looks quite shock (happy?) but he managed to keep silent, and he saw the car’s window and now we saw a flying balloon. the red balloon brings us up into the open sky, and then there was a text LOVE completed by the balloon as “O”.

And that’s how the movie introduced us to the 8 main characters, which later on, would tell about three main stories about love. How each of them will fall in love and describe love itself.

What an introducing, rite? hopefully I could tell the rest of three stories in my next post. Bottom line it’s a beautiful, sweet, warm and funny movie about love.
